What is CBD?

CBD is short for Cannabidiol and is naturally derived from either the hemp or marijuana plant.

What’s the difference between marijuana and hemp plants?

Both marijuana and hemp are cannabis plants. What distinguishes marijuana from hemp is the amount of THC each contains.

Marijuana plants contain up to 35% THC, which is the chemical that has strong psychoactive effects. Marijuana is illegal on the federal level, but some states have allowed it to be used.

Hemp is an industrial plant that, by law, must contain less than 0.3% THC. It is used to make everything from clothes to candles to personal care products. It is legal on a federal level.

Where is your CBD sourced from?

Our CBD is derived from hemp plants grown in the United States by reliable suppliers in Colorado, Oregon and Kentucky.

What’s the difference between CBD Full and Broad Spectrum and Isolate?

Full-Spectrum CBD is the crudest form of Cannabidiol that includes all impurities naturally found in the plant, including trace cannabinoids, terpenes, oils and THC (below 0.3%).

Broad-Spectrum CBD contains Cannabidiol and all the other impurities within the plant, except for THC, which is completely removed after the initial extraction.

CBD Isolate is the purest form of Cannabidiol without THC or other impurities from the plant. This is CBD at its most potent state, taking advantage of all its benefits determined by scientific studies.

What are the skin benefits of topical CBD?

CBD helps soothe, calm and moisturize sensitive skin by supporting its hydration and barrier functions.

Will CBD make me high or affect the outcome of a drug test?

No. CBD has no psychoactive effects.

What kind of CBD do you use?

We use 99% pure CBD Isolate derived from the hemp plant.

What is sensitive skin?

The definition shared by dermatologists is, "unpleasant sensations or reactions — whether a mild tingle, dryness, redness or tightness — because your skin reacts more acutely to your skincare products, lifestyle choices or external stressors." (Misery et al., 2011)

How common is sensitive skin?

More than 50% of the global population has issues with sensitive skin (Farage and Maibach, 2010).

Is all sensitive skin the same?

No. Sensitive skin for one person can look completely different for another. Some are sensitized due to their environments and lifestyles, which can cause issues like dry, itchy or red skin. Others are sensitized to fragrances in formulas that can cause stinging, tingling or burning. Others are born with sensitive skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, which can cause rashes, flaking and dryness. For some, all of the above can apply.

How do I know if I have sensitive skin?

While there is not a definitive checklist, some common sensitive skin symptoms include:

  • Itchiness
  • Redness
  • Dryness
  • Frequent rashes
  • Prone to breakouts

The best way to establish your skin type is by listening to your skin and consulting your doctor.

What is the difference between sensitive skin & having an allergic reaction?

Sensitive skin reactions occur in the spots where the product or agent was exposed. An allergic reaction is when the immune system overreacts to a harmless substance and the reaction can be visible in spots other than where an agent was exposed.

Sensitive skin and skin allergies can sometimes be confused with each other. If you suspect you have a skin allergy, you should speak with your doctor to get tested.

What makes a product safe for sensitive skin?

There is no specific set of criteria. Products are deemed safe when they have been tested and clinically proven to be suitable for sensitive skin.

What types of products or ingredients should I avoid if I have sensitive skin?

Some common ingredients and products to avoid:

  • Alcohol
  • Fragrance
  • Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS)
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)
  • Methylisothiazolinone
  • Dyes
  • Essential Oils
  • Chemical Sunscreens
  • Harsh Exfoliants

How are products tested to determine that they are safe for sensitive skin?

Products undergo a common safety test called the Human Repeat Insult Patch Test (HRIPT). Volunteers in a clinical trial are repeatedly exposed to products to determine the potential for irritation, sensitization and an allergic reaction.

For our Hypoallergenic CBD Sensitive Skin Therapy products, we also ran a cumulative irritancy test, an ophthalmologist test, and gave it to 100 people with sensitive skin to make sure the products could be used without issue.
